If Clichés Could Kill You

As you will hear in this PODCAST, there is a myth so commonly taught that it has almost become cliché. So universal is this teaching that if I echoed it in this message, very few would even question it.

Yet, it is one of the most exhaustingly exasperating, or self-exalting teachings we could ever hear.

And in that sense, it can often be diabolically defeating for any Christian. Perhaps even for you.

Give this a listen, and see what you think.

While I am both honored and humbled to teach some precious people at camp, I have not left you PODCAST-less.

THIS is one of the most powerful and profound messages in all of Scripture: How to Survive—Yeah, verily—to THRIVE in the desert.

You are in for a life-altering, paradigm-shifting tour of the biblical stage that will change the way you read and understand your Bible.

Who IS This Man?

While I am speaking at a summer camp this week, I have not left you without a PODCAST.

You are about to meet a most-remarkable woman, and a not-so-remarkable man.

Most importantly, through this encounter, you will meet a gentle Jesus whose love is the most remarkable aspect of this story.

Enjoy!!!

Bethany–The House Where God Turns Our Sorrows into Sweetness

For reasons that you will hear in this PODCAST, this past week has arguably been the single most emotionally-challenging period in my precious bride’s and my 43 years of marriage.

Consequently, in God’s good providence, Peter’s words in 1 Peter 3 came at just the right time.

For my family.

And very possibly, for yours.

Enjoy.

To Dream the Impossible Dream (HT #becauseofRHE)

As you will hear in the PODCAST, I do have a dream.

A modest dream. Yet modest though it may be, an increasingly illusive-if-not-impossible dream.

Won’t you please help my dream to come true?

Ironically, your response to this message will either nudge my dream to its fulfillment, or cast my dream upon the ash heap of impossible dreams. (No pressure!)

As you are about to hear in this PODCAST

It is today as it was then.

Sadly so.

Tragically so.

Abusively so.

BUT (I am thrilled to say) UNNECESSARILY so.

May this much-needed change begin right here, right now, with us.

Slavery

What you are about to hear in this PODCAST is a masterful, masterful example of how two apostles—Peter and Paul—addressed a thorny issue that confronted the first generation of Christ-followers.

The issue of slavery.

Paul in particular will seize upon a teachable moment, presented to him by a runaway slave, and use this moment spectacularly to develop an entire New Testament theology of slavery. AND what it all has to do with us today when it comes to our own thorny social issues which threaten to divide us.
